The purse has long been used as art and in art. A reference in music, from James Brown’s, “Papa’s got a brand new bag”,  to Victoria Monet’s reference to being deep in her bag like a grandma with a peppermint. Similarly artists like Aretha Franklin are have their own bag stories. Franklin was known to carry her purse with her on stage and keep it close during performances.
